New Design! – Banded Arrow Bracelet

Hello again, friends! I have a treat!

I have a new pattern out! You can find it here. I have been working on a new design and finally had the motivation to get it written. I got a new laptop this year and lost my old legacy Office and Photoshop software, so I had to get used to some new open software versions (shout out to LibreWriter and Photopea joining my old stand-by, Inkscape). It took some doing and at one point, I did delete about five pages of work on accident. But we recovered and here we are!

This bracelet is pretty simple in theory, but I think it turned out really cute and I am absolutely delighted by the different color combinations I’ve tried so far. It’s essentially an embellished right-angle-weave bracelet and definitely not unrelated to the traditional X’s and O’s bracelet that so many people learn RAW with. I think the little chevrons are cute!

I mentioned in my last pattern (The Herringbone Headliner) how much I love my stash of 6mm Fire-Polished and have wanted to have more ways to use them. They’re just big enough that I don’t feel like I’m reaching for them as often as I’d like. The base of this bracelet came together when I was idly stitching together some from my stash and once I had the chevron idea, I was sold.

I have been particularly taken with doing variations on the seed bead chevrons. The rainbow one is probably my favorite, but the pink one also has a subtle gradient between pale gold and dark gold on the chevrons as well!

The pattern does include the colors that I use in these four samples AND I included three separate sets of instructions for adding the clasp, which did make the pattern longer than usual for me at 13 pages, but I think it was worth it!

You may notice that the blue sample bracelet does have some rondelle beads and the other ones do not. I had some frustration when designing samples because sometimes 3x5mm rondelles would fit in the design and other times they wouldn’t. I included how I added them as an optional variation, but with plenty of caveats about Czech bead variability and some tips for culling the rondelles to get the best results.

Mostly, I am just so thrilled to be back designing. I am feeling inspired and motivated and I really hope that y’all love this pattern as much as I do.

AND! I am trying something completely new this week and livestreaming with my friends Danielle (of Danielle Wickes Jewelry and a previous bead swap) and Stacie (of Stacie Rabbit Jewelry) on Saturday, August 30th at 5pm EST. At that time, you can go here to see the three of us have some fun with Right Angle Weave and I will probably show off this new design a little.

Thank you all for your support and for your company! I hope to see you on the livestream and I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I enjoyed designing it!

<3 Sam
