New Design – The Demoiselle Bracelet

Hello, my dears!

It’s no secret that I love all these new bead designs. While I understand the frustration of keeping up with all these new beads, it’s pure fun for a designer like me to play around with new shapes and hole placements. It’s like a kid getting a new lego set – so many brand new possibilities!

I do really enjoy it, however, when I can work up a design that allows for multiple new beads to be used (double-dipping patterns, if you will). My Follow the Rulla Brick Road design is an example of this, since it works with both Rulla and Brick beads. It doubles the chance that the customer might already have the necessary beads in their stash.

Well, my Demoiselle bracelet is another example of one of these double-dipping patterns!

My Demoiselle bracelets can be made using either Honeycomb beads by the Beadsmith or DiscDuos by Potomac Bead Company. They work up with slightly different embellishment beads, but the same basic technique. It’s somewhere between a beginner and intermediate beadweaving design, great for expanding your repertoire or learning a quick, no-pressure technique.

After doing some super delicate and big, bold designs lately (I’m looking at you, Dragon Blossom and Barcelona designs!), it is really nice to have a design that’s so casual and wearable. No dainty blossoms or giant stones with this one, just smooth beads and endless color combinations!

So, what do you guys think? Drowning in too many two-hole options or are you excited to play with new shapes? I think it’s a wee bit obvious that I am having just too much fun with them!

Hi Sam. I just saw your new pattern on Etsy this morning. It’s really cute. Do you think it would work well with the new 6mm 2-hole cabochons? I just posted a pattern review on my blog this morning that has them. They look very similar to the DiscDuos but I think the cabs might be slightly more rounded on the tops than the DiscDuos.

I saw your post, Linda. Great pattern review and lovely beading, as always. :)

You know, someone asked me the same question when I taught this pattern last weekend and I still haven’t had a chance to try them. The DiscDuos and Honeycombs are also supposed to be 6mm, so it should work… But I can’t say for sure because I haven’t tried. The top embellishment would probably have to be adjusted a bit, but it might work with some tweaking?
