It’s that time again!
Christine and Therese have issued another blog hop challenge!
I signed up on a whim, despite having never made a bag or purse of any sort before. For some crazy reason, I though single-drop peyote would be the best stitch for this project, so I have only finished the pouch portion at this stage.
It is big enough to hold a few credit cards, an ID, and a few folded up bills.
I plan to add a flap of some sort to the top, with some sort of fastener to keep your goodies safe. And then I’ll need to add straps. I’m thinking about just stitching on some D-Rings to the sides, so that I can trade out straps between leather purse straps or something beaded or a chain. I haven’t quite made up my mind yet.
The colors were inspired by these gorgeous pieces I got from Petra Carpreau of Scorched Earth on Etsy. They were actually all freebies from various orders I have placed with her and apparently, she has guessed my taste perfectly.
I haven’t quite decided on placement. I know I want the button somewhere on the flap, but the dangles might hang off of the flap or off the bottom of the purse. They’re ceramic, so luckily they’re really lightweight, since this purse is already really heavy.
So, it isn’t finished, but I have been working really hard on this thing and I am very proud of it. I love the colors and the design (especially how those chevrons turned out!).
I will definitely post an update with pictures when I finish the darned thing. In the mean time, check out what everyone else has made!

Wow!!! Single drop in a pattern this intricate ~ you are a brave beader!!! I love this bag! It will be gorgeous when it is done, no matter what you decide for the strap and for the placement of the ceramics. People are going to want to touch this all the time!!! This is a gorgeous amulet bag. I love the pattern and the colours too. I had no idea it would be heavy. I have made one amulet bag myself just with beads and it’s no heavy at all. The ceramic beads are the right complement to the bag. It will look fabulous when you finish it.

Single-drop peyote was the first stitch I learned, and it’s still my favorite. Love the patterns and the shaping you’ve created with it in this design. One-of-a-kind gorgeous. You MUST show it again when it is finished!

I think what I love about Peyote is that the stitch is structured, but allows for free form designing. You can “draw” whatever you want with Peyote. But it isn’t quite as freeform as bead embroidery, which completely intimidates me.

This is really lovely – and I completely get how time consuming the peyote can be to create something that size. The pattern is lovely, the colors are stunning, and it will be really interesting to see how it looks when you get the flap and straps added on. Those ceramic beads will be the perfect touch!

And so you should be really proud of it! Your bag is beautiful! Love your closures and I really like your idea of using D rings as connectors for a chain….just might have to steal that one! Thanks as well for the discount on patterns…I purchased a Lunasoft pendant pattern and am excited to get the cabs I just ordered and get a start on it in the New Year.
